What love means to kids

What Love means to a 4-8 year old . . .

Slow down for three minutes to read this. It is so worth it. Touching
words from the mouth of babes. A group of professional people posed this
question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, 'What does love mean?'
The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have
imagined. See what you think:

'When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her
toenails anymore.
So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got
arthritis too. That's love.'

Rebecca- age 8

'When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different.
You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.'

Billy - age 4

'Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and
they go out and smell each other.'

Karl - age 5

'Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French
fries without making them give you any of theirs.'

Chrissy - age 6

'Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.'

Terri - age 4

'Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip
before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.'

Danny - age 7

'Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing,
you still want to be together and you talk more.
My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss'

Emily - age 8

'Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening
presents and listen.'

Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

'If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who
you hate,'

Nikka - age 6
(we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)

'Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it
everyday.'

Noelle - age 7

'Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still
friends even after they know each other so well.'

Tommy - age 6

'During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at
all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling.

He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore.'

Cindy - age 8

'My mommy loves me more than anybody
You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.'

Clare - age 6

'Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.'

Elaine-age 5

'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is
handsomer than Robert Redford.'

Chris - age 7

'Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all
day.'

Mary Ann - age 4

'I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes
and has to go out and buy new ones.'

Lauren - age 4

'When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars
come out of you.' (what an image)

Karen - age 7

'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's
gross.'

Mark - age 6

'You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean
it, you should say it a lot. People forget.'

Jessica - age 8

And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a
contest he was asked to judge.

The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.

The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an
elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.

Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's
yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.

When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy
said,

'Nothing, I just helped him cry'

80/20 Rule - Lesson of Love

A very valuable lesson to learn ...

Interesting quote from the movie 'Why did I get married?'
In most cases, especially in relationships, you will only get 80% of what you NEED and you will hardly get the other 20% that you WANT in your relationship. There is always another person (man or women) that you will meet and that will offer you the other 20% which is lacking in your relationship that you WANT
Andbelieve me, 20% looks really good when you are not getting it at all in your current relationship.
But the problem is that you will always be tempted to leave that good 80% that you know you have, thinking that you will get something better with the other 20% that you WANT
But as reality has proven, in most cases, you will always end up with having the 20% that you WANT and loosing the 80% that you really NEED and that you already had.
Be careful in deciding between what you WANT and NEED in your life.

Adultery happens when you start looking for what you don't have. 'Wow, this girl in my office is a real looker. But it's not her Wynona Rider features that got me. I'm crazy about her because she's also understanding, intelligent, tender - so many things that my spouse is not'

Somewhere along the way, you'll find a woman or a man who will be more charming or sensitive. More alluring. More thoughtful. Richer. Have greater sex appeal. And you will find a woman or man who will need you and pursue you and go loco over you more than your spouse ever did.

Because no wife or husband is perfect. Because a spouse will only have 80% of what you're looking for. So adultery takes place when a husband or wife looks for the missing 20%. Let's say your wife is melancholic by nature .

You may find yourself drawn to the pretty clerk who has a cherry laugh no matter what she says: 'I broke my arm yesterday, Hahahaha . . ..'

Or because your wife is a homebody in slippers and pajamas, smelling of garlic and fish oil, you may fall for a fresh-smelling young sales representative that visits your office in a sharp black blazer, high heels, and a red pencil-cut skirt Or because your husband is the quiet
type, your heart may skip a beat when you meet an old college flame who has the makings of a talk show host.

But wait! That's only 20% of what you don't have.

Don't throw away the 80% that you already have!

That's not all. Add to your spouse's 80% the 100% that represents all the years that you have been with each other. The storms you have weathered together. The unforgettable moments of sadness and joy as a couple. The many adjustments you have made to love the other. The wealth of memories that you've accumulated as lovers.

Adultery happens when you start looking for what you don't have.

But faithfulness happens when you start thanking God for what you already have.

But I'm not just talking about marriage.

I'm talking about life!

About your jobs.
About your friends.
About your children.
About your lifestyles.

Are you like the economy airline passenger that perennially peeks through the door of the first class cabin, obsessed with what he's missing? 'They have got more leg room! Oh my, their food is served in porcelain! Wow, their seats recline at an 80% angle and they've got personal videos!'

I guarantee you'll be miserable for the entire trip! Don't live your life like that. Forget about what the world says is first class. Do you know that there are many first class passengers who are miserable in first class -- because they are not riding in a private Lear Jet?

The Lesson is...

If you start appreciating what you have right now, wherever you are, you are first class!

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: 'I am blind, please help.' There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, 'Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?'

The man said, 'I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way.'
What he had written was: 'Today is a beautiful day and I cannot see it.'

Do you think the first sign and the second sign were saying the same thing?

Of course both signs told people the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people they were so lucky that they were not blind. Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?

Moral of the Story: Be thankful for what you have. Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively.

Invite others towards good with wisdom. Live life with no excuse and love with no regrets. When life gives you a 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 reasons to smile. Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear. Keep the faith and drop the fear.

Great men say, 'Life has to be an incessant process of repair and reconstruction, of discarding evil and developing goodness... In the journey of life, if you want to travel without fear, you must have the ticket of a good conscience.'

The most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling...
And even more beautiful is, knowing that you are the reason behind it!!!

The Best Way to Cheer Yourself is to Cheer Somebody Else.

Keep Smiling!

Keratosis Pilaris (the chicken skin condition)

I've have been searching so long to determine whats my skin condition. It all appear on my upper arms, calf, and now worsen to thighs.
The skin are just like chicken skin with small red or white bumps. It can get itchy sometimes but mild one. It also look like whiteheads which you can squeeze and there's the white thing just like acne. This kind of KP usually appear on upper arms.

While on legs, it is more dark and red in colour. It will not appear like acne whiteheads. It will appear like a small coiled hair trapped beneath the rough bumps. Sometimes my itchy hand peel it off to get the hair out.

Last two weeks, I wnet to see doctor and he gave me some anti-fungal cream to apply. Apply it after bath and then apply lotion cream after 30 mins to lock in the treatment cream. It works and my KP on my arms appearing not that red and feel smoother. Although it is smoother but there still marks there, if untreated the rough bumps comes back.

I will keep you guys updated on my progress. below are some useful links relates to KP.
Hope it helps!

Update: Synargym at Kl Sentral

Hi All,

I would like to update on my previous post about Synargym. Well, after joining this gym for more than a year, I saw many changes in the gym. I have lots of opinions about this gym
Firstly, trainers keep on changing. Almost all the trainers has left and new faces in every 2-3 mths.
2) The rock climbing ... i think is for decoration only. When i asked around whether any trainers can guide on rock climbing, they said have to make appointment and the way they answer was not so confident and unsure on that...
3) Group classes - not much variety and very limited. Only once a week for a particular class and not crowded at all. I had been 1-1 with the trainers!! Imagine the crowd! & no classes on weekend!
4) As for the weights, my boyfriend actually complaint the weights are very light and limited.
5) Good thing is the gym is not too crowded and don't need to wait for some machines that you wanted to workout, they include towel service and key for locker ( instead of pad locks that sometimes you might forget).
6) As for the membership price, the staff are not pushy at all so dont worry. The price is fixed for RM150 or sign up 6mths for Rm120 and do ask for student price if you are a student RM90/mth. Minimum membership is only 3 mths!

Mount Kinabalu packing list

Well well, I just went to climb Mount Kinabalu last two months. Thank god, I made it to the top! For those are preparing for the climb, here the list of things you must prepare! Trust me!

Must Bring:
1) A pair of comfortable shoe
- Hiking shoe highly recommended. There are rocks to climb with some string-pulling and it is very steep at the first 2 hours of the night climb. So make sure your shoe not too loose or too tight. I got my hiking at those shops that sells school shoes and it cost only RM10.
Alternatively, get sport shoe with some good brand (do not use Power , recommend Puma or Nike). According to my friend who went with lousy shoe (Power) it get torn during the climb.
2) Socks
- 1 pair of winter socks - when sleeping at Laban Rata and climbing to the summit
- 3 pair of normal socks - wear two pair of socks with your hiking shoes. There will be a lot of stones at the last 2 hours of climb to laban rata. If you can't take 6 hours of non-stop foot reflexology, please double layer your socks for those wearing hiking shoes is not as thick as sport shoe. & spare some socks to change fr the next day of course.
3) Gloves & Raincoat
You only need it when you climb to the summit. Get winter gloves but no leather one coz you need to pull string during the climb. Get disposable raincoat in case it rain.
4) Winter jacket & long john
Wind breaker, long john n long sleeve clothes are enough. People like me, get cold easily can stand with only wind breaker.
5) Short & long pants, T-shirts
-2 pair of short pants & 2 t-shirts to climb to laban rata & back to the base.
-1 pair of long pant. any long pant will do as long as it is not jeans. recommend track suit with long john.
- Long sleeve shirt
6) Energy food and drinks
Get 1-2 chocolate bar and 100plus a must! Dont worry, you wouldnt want to eat much! 2 bottle of 0.5L mineral water and 2 bottle of 0.5L 100 plus. There will be water supply along for refill. Apple give u pleasure!
7)Hand Warmer
-can get it at shops selling those climbing necessities at RM5/packet - can be found in a shop in Warisan Square in 2nd floor or somewhere near Jetty few shops from Cock & bull Bar.
8) Medicines
Panadol (paracetamol) for fever & headache, Some anti-cramp pills (dont know what it called), yokoyoko.
9) Confidence & Determination
Believe that you can make it, take it slowly and follow your own speed. Be careful of the roads, dont step on the tree roots. Enjoy the scenery & no rushing.
Remember! It is tired but you can still make it!

Dangerous ingredients that can harm your skin and health.

Ladies, you must read this! Do check on your skin care products label and ingredients to make sure it is safe. I read this on newspaper today and decided post it in my blog to share with others.

Findings:
- USA Environment Working group (EWG) had 7,500 beauty products tested and only 28 with safety stamp!!
- nearly 1/3 of the products contained ingredients classified as possible carcinogens (tend to cause cancer)
- those dangerous ingredients can expose to carcinogens, endocrine disruptors, neurotoxins, allergens, irritations, headache, nausea and even depression!

*The 'beware' list
1) Sodium Lauryl Sulfate & Sodium Laureth Sulfate
- used in almost 90% of all shampoo tested positive for eye damage, depression, laboured breathing and severe skin irritation when tested on animals.
2) Mineral Oil
-typically found in lipsticks, lotions, makeup removers & liquid foundations. It is actually crude oil derived from petroleum that coats the skin like a film, preventing pores from breathing.
3) Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA)
-Yes AHA is organic, hydrating and natural exfoliant but high percentage of this only removes dead skin cells and also natural protective layer. long term use can leave skin more susceptible to harmful UV rays.
4) Formalin
- found in nail polish, shampoos and skin creams. It is linked to asthma and cancer.
- also used in labs to preserve the dead bodies!!
5) Talc
- found in loose and pressed powders, blushes and baby powder. Talc is potentially hamrful ingredient when inhaled.
6) Collagen (the wonderful pumping effects)
- found in cosmetic creams and moisturisers and are actually extracted from animal skins
- it canot penetrate the pores and only clogs the pores and keep skin from functioning properly.
7) Lanolin
- a fat derived from wool which can cause irritations and rashes on the skin.
8) DEA, MEA and TEA
- found in shampoos, soaps and facial cleanser. The three are hormone-disrupting chemicals known to form cancer.
9) Fragrance
- many are carcinogenic or toxic and synthenic. Clinical observations shown that exposure to fragrance can affect the central nervous system causing depression, hyperactivity, irritability, inability to cope and even behaviourial changes.
10) Paraben
- used to prolong shelf life of products. regular use can result in allergic reactions
11) Benzaldehyde
- regular use can cause irritation to the mouth, throat, eyes, skin lungs, nausea and pain. Long term use can result in kidney damage.
12) Synthetic colours
- used many in lipstick, believed to be carcinogenic especially Blue 1, Green 3, Yellow 5,6 and Red 33. Many contain coal tar and even arsenic and lead.
13) Propylene Glycol
- found in beauty creams, cosmetics and cleansers
- can cause skin rashes, contact dermatitis, damage to kidney and liver.

Every Woman Should ...

...I Like this one.

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to live alone... even if she doesn't like it...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...
enough money within her control to move out and rent a place of her own, even if she never wants to or needs to...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE
...
something perfect to wear if the employer, or date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
a youth she's content to leave behind....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
a past juicy enough that she's looking forward to retelling it in her old age....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
one friend who always makes her laugh... and one who lets her cry..

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems, and a recipe for a meal, that will make her guests feel honored...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
a feeling of control over her destiny...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to fall in love without losing herself
..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to quit a job, break up with a lover, and confront a friend without ruining the friendship...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
when to try harder... and WHEN TO WALK AWAY...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
that she can't change the length of her calves, the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_YWpCaSDVV_Q/RoABapmsogI/AAAAAAAAAIc/qQUsaLRyLmM/42-17073459.jpg
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
that her childhood may not have been perfect...but its over...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
what she would and wouldn't do for love or more...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW..
whom she can trust, whom she can't, and why she shouldn't take it personally...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
where to go... be it to her best friend's kitchen table... or a charming inn in the woods... when her soul needs soothing...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
what she can and can't accomplish in a day... a month...and a year...
